Microcomputer Technology
This program provides the skills necessary to maintain and support the operations of IBM PC hardware, software, and telecommunications. Topics include installation, interfacing components, trouble-shooting, maintenance, security, and selecting and supporting software. This program trains students for careers as microcomputer technicians and information center specialists.
Program Content
Seven courses and a
work-study internship are required for the certificate. The
program requires 230.5 hours of classroom instruction. The
curriculum consists of the following courses:
Module I
· Introduction to
Microcomputer Hardware (DPC 3333)
· Personal
Computers - An Introduction and PC DOS (DPC3000 and DPC3002)
Modules II - IV
· Advanced
Microcomputer Hardware (DPC3334)
· Advanced
Microcomputer Software (DPC3335)
· Internship and
Seminar
· PC Electronics
· Advanced PC
Topics including Internet Courses may be taken individually. See
"Tuition."
Schedule
Module II - IV courses meet
Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and begin on October

Tuition
DPC 3000 and DPC 3002 are $280 each. DPC
3333 is $295.
Tuition for the remaining certificate program courses is $2600.
Module II - IV classes may be taken individually for $440 each.
Internships are available only for
students enrolled in the Certificate Program. Placement
counseling is available.
