The Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute was created to provide a foundation for education and research concerned with real estate and metropolitan development. It will provide opportunities for students to prepare for careers in the industry, not-for-profit organizations, and government. Through workshops, forums, and executive education, the Newman Institute will serve as a resource for professionals in the field.
Real estate courses are offered under the joint auspices of the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute and the Baruch College Continuing Studies Program. The courses offered under the licensing and certified program of the Newman Institute provide students with the professional educational requirements for various New York State licensing programs.
For further information about these and future courses, call (212)802-5600 or e-mail bbconted@newton.baruch.cuny.edu.
The New York Department of State has approved the Real Estate Salesperson's course. All other courses are pending approval of the Department of State. Anyone who wishes to use these courses for credit towards the 22-1/2 hour Broker's License Renewal requirement should be aware of the strict attendance required by the Department of State.
The Newman Institute holds special seminars, conferences and exhibits throughout the year on issues affecting the real estate industry. For information, contact Richard Benenson, Administrator, Professional and Public Educational Programs, The Newman Institute, (212)508-5940.
Certificate Program in Real Estate
In the Spring of 1999 the Certificate Program in Real Estate will begin, with practical skills-focused training in key facets of real estate practice in the Division of Continuing Studies. The Certificate Program will be given both in a sequence of weekday evening sessions and in a sequence of Saturday daytime sessions throughout the academic year. Because of the emphasis on mathematics and research skills, prior academic experience at the Associate Degree level or above is preferred, but other academic and work experience may be considered.
