All serious illness requires
financial planning, but what to do varies dramatically
depending on the illness. Different illnesses have
different cost curves, different time lines. Frequently a
counter intuitive approach is needed. The advice needed
is often the opposite of the advice given people with
normal health. This course
offers solutions to the financial problems often
triggered by serious illness. It gives advice maximizing
medical coverage; making successful disability
applications; career exit, re orientation and re-entry;
investment reallocation; credit and debt complications;
tax fallout; and getting cash out of life insurance.
Particular attention will be given to the financial
impact of illness on couples - both married and domestic
partners. This course is for both the seriously ill and
those who are helping them.
